2008 AV Fair Pics

LHS Ag News Update:

 

Littlerock FFA has success at the AV Fair!

Brenda Allison, Stephen Borgia, Jessica Briggs, Jiggs Briggs, Robin Dick, Robert Dick, Chelsey Jurkovac, Luis Nichols, and Rion Page participated in the AV Fair this year.  These students worked hard and showed livestock animals, plants, FFA Record Books, and agriculture mechanics projects.

 

Stephen Borgia

-          won Bred and Fed Champion Lamb

-          1st place in lamb market class

-          won Best of Division Medium Ag Mechanics Project for his cowboy gate

-          in Ag Mechanics he also showed his custom made book cases (one of which Ms. Earl bought for her classroom) and truck hitches that brought home many first place ribbons

-          earned over $1500 in premium money

 

Jiggs Briggs

-          won Overall Best of Show Ag Mechanics project for his BBQ

-          won Best of Class with his FFA Record Book

-          showed approximately 75 plants that he raised in the school greenhouse and at home….and got almost all first place ribbons…he had one 3rd place ribbon!

-          he also showed many other Ag Mechanics projects that earned first place ribbons

-          earned $2344 in premium money

 

Jessica Briggs

-          won 1st place in Beef Showmanship and 6th place in Master Showmanship

-          won Best of Show Horticulture Craft project for her terrarium

-          won Overall Best of Show with her FFA Record Book

-          showed approximately 75 plants that she raised in the school greenhouse and at home….and got almost all first place ribbons…she had two 2nd place ribbons!

-          Earned $6,240 in premium money

 

Rion Page

-          10th place in Swine Showmanship

-          4th place in Swine Market Class

-          showed 17 plants that he raised in the school greenhouse and earned sixteen 1st place ribbons and one 2nd place ribbon.

-          earned $1,214 in premium money

 

Brenda Allison

-          won7th place in Novice Sheep Showmanship

-          won 8th place in Sheep Market Class

-          earned $510 in premium money

 

Robin Dick

-          5th place in her lamb market class

-          earned $1,948.50 in premium money

 

Robert Dick

-          showed a pig and a lamb at the fair- both of which placed in their middle of their market classes

-          earned $2028 in premium money

 

Chelsey Jurkovac

-          won 8th place in Novice Sheep Showmanship

 

Luis Nichols

-          entered 60 plants in the fair that he raised in the school greenhouse and at home….each of his plants won 1st place

-          earned sixteen 1st place ribbons for his Ag Mechanics projects

-          earned $147 in premium money

 

Littlerock FFA Club Groups

-          lambs won 3rd place

-          pigs won 3rd place

 

Each year our students have a great deal of success with their animals, but this year we are pleased with the fact that more students are taking advantage of the other exhibitor opportunities available to them.  Many other plant and agriculture mechanics projects were entered in the fair and all did well.  Our students provided quality projects and they were rewarded with a record number of first place ribbons!

 

Overall the students who participated in fair earned $15,872!!!
